Top 5?

Post by xshat »

So are the top 5 engines (all within 50 elo of each other) generally concluded to be:

Fire 1.31
Houdini 1.02
Rybka 4
Stockfish 1.8
IvanHoe55

And from testing, (short and long games), is there an order that can be accurately established?

I think Rybka 4 is few elo better than Houdini 1.02 from the results I've seen so far. Ivanhoe could equal Rybka.

It might be interesting to run the 2000 games match between Firebird 1.1, Rybka 4, Ivanhoe and Houdini 1.02

Ranking might be:

1. Ivanhoe/Rybka 4
2. Firebird 1.1/Houdini 1.02
3. Stockfish 1.8

Is fire 1.1 stronger than 1.31?

I've read many times that Firebird 1.1 is the strongest in the series. I haven't done any tests though.
