New 6-game match started: Fire 1.31 v Igorrit 0086v9.
First
game played. Enjoyed this one (writing as an untrained observer).

Fire 1.31 wins 4-2.
In this last match, both thought Igorrit up nearly 2 pawns deep into the middle game. But Fire won. Click www button below to play through the game.
Also updated ratings data. All 248 games to date can be downloaded.
Ratings not generating the personal interest I thought they would. Sample size will never be sufficient, and pairings ought to be more distributed.
So, added a Ladder page. Still being thought out, so any suggestions welcome. A Ladder will allow flexibility and added interest in the matches I arrange.

Has Fire 1.32 been released? I thought Fire 1.31 was the latest version.

Dave
Silly error. Mon Jun 14, 2010 9:22 am post should have shown 1.31.
Thanks for raising a doubt.

Two ladder matches started:
Houdini 1.02 v
IvanHoe 63,
Fire 1.31 v
IvanHoe 57.
One game in each already played. Each match fought over 12 games.
Have set up a
RSS feed on the main chess webpage.

Ladder matches coming to an end, but thought you might find this draw worth a look now.
Both engines had Black over 6 pawns ahead! So did Houdini 1.02 miss a win against IvanHoe 63? Time was not an issue for Houdini.

This is definitely an interesting one. Shows why you shouldn't use "GUI resign" or some such option. How much time did they have left?
It seems that Ke5 on move 71 rather than Kxe4 was the big blunder.
With RobboTripleBases, IvanHoe takes less than 3s to show a win from Kxe4:
Code: Select all
info multipv 1 time 2396 nodes 6004364 nps 2505000 tbhits 571067 score cp 18884 depth 21 pv f5e4 c5b6 f4f3 c4c5 f3f2 c5c6 f2f1q c6c7 f1b5 b6a7 b5c6 a7b8 c6d6 b8b7 d6d5 b7a7 d5f7 a7b6 f7d7 b6b7 e4e5 b7b8 d7b5 b8a7 b5e8 a7b7 e8f7 b7c6 f7d5 c6b6 d5a8 b3b4 a8c8 b4b5 e5d6 b6a7 c8c7
Comparatively, after Kxe4 a score of only -3 or -4 shows up after a minute, and playing down the PV a few moves (the Kb6 f3, c5 f2, c6 f1Q, c7 sequence looks forced to me) shows a more drawish score.
Code: Select all
info multipv 1 time 44199 nodes 116615942 nps 2638000 tbhits 11320986 score cp 37 depth 23 pv f1b5 b6a7 b5e8 a7b7 e8d7 b7b8 d7d6 b8b7 d6e7 b7b8 e7b4 b8a7 b4f8 a7b7 f8f7 b3b4 f7d7 b7b8 d7b5 b8a7 b5c6 a7b8 c6d6 b4b5 a6b5 b8b7 d6d7 b7b8 b5b4 c7c8q d7b5 b8c7 b5a5 c7c6 a5a4 c6b6 b4b3 c8h8 e5e6 h8g8 e6f6 g8f8 f6g6 f8g8 g6h5 b6c5
So Houdini blew it with Ke5 on move 71.

Time left:
IvanHoe, 6:35.
Houdini 28:33.
Position after IvanHoe's 71. fxe4+.
