Hair-raising up-and-down game here:
Black has a good edge out of the opening (move 10), had a queen for a rook and a minor, then things went bad in the simplification stage, White started to claim an edge from the tripled f-pawns (?!!), and then at move 83 White dropped from 0 to -7, similarly for Black. Not sure quite what happened (maybe zugzwang?).The evals were typically more than a pawn apart.

Tornado-Scorpio (Round 4.2) had another eval discrepancy and turn-around. Stockfish and Scorpio both had -1 for Black at move 25, but Tornado had 0.00. It stayed that way for 15 moves (in fact, Tornado started to agree around move 30, but then backed off this), but the a2 passer is weak I guess, and it's currently +3 to White.

Cute tactic from Redqueen-Scorpio:
And now Black ignores this pawn push, to play 17... Nh5 instead. Not sure whether it leads to an advantage in the end.

To the attention of Martin, the man behind the TCEC web site.

Hello to All,

I propose that Martin adds to the name of his web site the following: TCEC - THE WORLD COMPUTER CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP. The reason being that it is the truth! The F to A tournaments being the preliminary matches to find out which are the best two chess programs and the Elite Match being the finale.

As I have said in a previous post "TCEC=TRUE WORLD COMPUTER CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP" at http://www.open-chess.org/viewtopic.php ... 8&start=20
The ICGA World Computer Chess Championships with same hardware for each opponent and the version for unlimited hardware are completely useless and totally irrelevant because the number of games played between each opponent is simply too small. Moreover, the number of participating chess programs to these ICGA World Computer Chess Championships is also extremely small compared to the number of chess programs enrolled in the TCEC tournaments.

Best Regards to All

For that title, I would prefer a different format : 7 cycles of double-round Swiss with 30 strong engines (210 games),
followed by a double-round RoundRobin with best 8 engines (56 games), and finally a 20-game match with best 2.

The champ would be Houdini :P

Matthias.

Well thank you Michael, I simply choose to interpret your post as praise. :)

There are many more programs out there that I could include but a limit has to be set somewhere.
I think the current format with 6 divisions of 6 engines is pretty good.

I wouldn't say that there are many more games in TCEC than in the ICGA events though.

Best,
Martin

It is differences of opinion that lead to horse races...
So should Black have been content with the repetition?
