Forget all about freeware beating Rybka 4 in strength. It does not matter anymore. With current freeware engines around 3000 Elo, we are more than supplied of strength. 10 or 20 extra points are a preposterous and minimal thing to consider at this level.
What will kill Rybka and in fact every commercial endeavor known to date is a new program you can expect for the next 5-7 months provided of such innovative gui you could not believe it. It will change your chessic lives. I know well because....

Why are you guys talking about ChessGUI but avoiding to mention it by name ? ;)

- all Chess960 protocols supported without adapters
- Swiss tournaments with 5000 engines
- 10x8 chess variants

Matthias.

Yes, that's what I was referring to.

Anyway, long time ago I tried ChessGUI and wasn't convinced, taking it again for another spin is in my TODO list.

My dream GUI would have the developer taking requests and adding them to the GUI 8-)

Probably will. Might wait till I have a decent alpha version though. A month or 2, depending on how busy I am.

I'm looking for suggestions. JavaChess, SimpleGUI..... SpartaChess.
