@ robbolito, thanks for all the tests...I think it might be best when having multiple results to put them in the tournament section -- just my opinion.
Prima wrote:By the way Kingliveson, thanks for your usual stable, multi-platform build/s.
Since I don't do drugs or use alcohol, chess/computer-chess is sort of an addiction, so this is fun for me. :)

Credit for stability goes to the developers. Some people are not excited because of Elo improvement which is understandable, but having a robust and stable program is a major plus. Furthermore, computer chess is in a strange phase -- you have those who only take, ridicule, and criticize. Stockfish is a model chess project; they take and give back more than twice as much.

IvanHoe 999946e (source), an update to 999946a has been released. It now supports Chess960 (Fischer Random), additionally, Windows support for RobboBase library. RobboTripleBase loading is broken. I have a fixed private build but since it looks like they may be releasing an update, I might just wait before releasing it.

IvanHoe 999946e Linux/Windows builds are available. I think the biggest news here is support for Chess960 (Fischer Random). There were a couple bug fixes here and there as well.

Also, as noted on their website, it is no-longer needed to give full path when bulkloading RobboTripleBases onto RAM. The valid values are 5, Z, 345Z, 33, 42, 51, 6, and 6Z. Multiple directories are loaded separated by pipe (|), eg; 5|Z. 2, 3, and 4 are automatically loaded onto RAM once RobboTripleBase path is given because they are very small.

There seems to be an interaction problem between RobboBaseLib.dll (for IvanHoe 9.46e x64) and IvanHoe 9.46e x64.exe (Haven't tested the 32 version):

1. IvanHoe 9.46b [e] x64 crashes in console mode with RobboaseLib.dll (243 KB, for x64) for version 9.46a. When the RobboBaseLib.dll (316 KB, for x64) that accompanies IH 9.46e is used, there is no console-mode crash BUT when loaded in Winboard GUI, IvanHoe 9.46e x64 crashes with error messages. Not sure if this some engine-GUI conflict, upon loading in GUI. Unfortunately, since it crashes almost immediately upon loading it in GUI, Log file can't be enabled to capture the problem.
At present, it looks to be the only way of using IvanHoe 9.46e x64 is to NOT use the RobboBaseLib.dll (316 KB) file that accompanied it, or any, at all. Actually, the older RobboBaseLib.dll file does not work with it as well.

2. Regarding Bulk Loading, I was under the impression that there are 9 sub-directories for the New TripleBases: 2,3,4,5,Z, 33,42,51, and 6Z.
2a. So what is 345Z? because it weighs exactly as the Z folder and contains same contents.
2b. Wouldn't this now increase sub-folders of the new TripleBases from 9 to 10?
The strange thing was, I had downloaded this 345Z TripleBases before - as my enabled-PolyGlot log file showed IvanHoe engine asked for 345Z Triple. BUT it turned out that the 345Z was exactly the same size and contents as the Z TripleBases for the 5-pieces! I deleted the 345Z because it looked to be a duplicate of the Z bases, or a doubling of the Z-bases.

I know you're probably also confused by what these IvanHoe authors say or do. I know I am, considering I cannot comprehend what they attempt to convey in English. It's a good thing the IvanHoe authors mended the Bulk Load paths, using just pipes as opposed to using entire file-name & path or directories.

Anyway, thanks.

Addendum:

I think it's better to have one universal RobboBaseLid.dll for all or any future versions of IvanHoe engines relying on the .dll file.

Currently I have to use 2 separate RobboBaseLib.dll files for 2 different IvanHoe engines. If I want to use IvanHoe 9.46a, I have to use the specific RobboBaseLib.dll that came with it. Likewise, to use IvanHoe 9.46e, I have to remember to switch the old RobboBaseLib.dll file for the RobboBaseLib.dll that accompanied IvanHoe 9.46e - assuming everything went kosher between IvanHoe 9.46e & its RobboBaseLib.dll that accompanied it.

IvanHoe 999946f Linux/Windows builds are available.

RobboBases library included with this build is stable and up-to-date. I encourage deleting the older libraries. The library is also compatible with IvanHoe 999946a and 999946e, but personally, there's no need using those 2 builds.
