isn't that a little too much conspiracy theory ? your theory is that robert houdart is selling rybka as houdini ??

It's an attractive conspiracy theory, but I don't think there's anything there.
More likely is that Robert Houdart == Roberto Pescatore. But I don't think that's particularly likely, either, or he wouldn't have needed to start with Norm's source code.

What about Robert Houdart == Robert Hyatt? I mean, it's very suspicious that their first name and initials match
I just hate conspiracy theories that appear with no basis whatsoever.

I dunno about that one -- that's pretty off-base. But has anyone ever seen Bob Hyatt and Vas in the same room at the same time? I'm just saying.

i see. interesting theory. i never thought rajlich did
rybka. to me rajlich was more a salesman like
ossi weiner who sold the work of somebody
else.
but if houdart invented rybka, why
is robbolito in houdini, did houdart these
programs too ?

I think this has ventured "way out there". I'm certainly not Houdart. Who/what Houdart is is completely unknown. He "claims" to have been involved in computer chess for many years. Which is a crock to those of us that have been involved, of course. I believe Vas copied fruit/crafty and developed Rybka and improved it significantly. Who is responsible for ippolit and friends is unknown, and likely will remain so. Houdini is clearly a derivative of robolito. Anything else is really fringe speculation...

I was just making fun of such conspiracy theories, I guess I should have went with something more obvious like "Look! Critter must be a clone of Crafty, since both engines start with 'C'!"

Robert Houdart == Vas Railich

Or maybe, Hood = Houdart, since all it takes is letter matching, isn't it?
