TCEC9: Continuing the Corruption

Post by terrapene »

tcec 9 had new houdini entered in stage 3
with a big game against komodo in round 1
but the tcec operators "accidentally" set the wrong params on komodo
when it had lost the game, they "cancelled" it

aren't chessdom supposed to be professionals?
can't they even set komodo correctly, when it was houdini that changed?
it all smells like stink

after the CORRUPT first quarter of tcec9, stage3
it is komodo 9.5, stockfish 9, (new) houdini 8.5

THEY WOULD ALL BE TIED (9) IF NOT FOR CORRUPTION!!!!

only trotsky(rybka) has been defending it
everyone else is going with tcec "decision"

"implicit warrantee (sic)" sound good, but nowhere is it given. There is no rule. We could say TCEC uses its "best endeavours" to comply with programmer setup wishes, or some other bla bla, but basically nothing is written, nor offered, nor compelled. The case put you(?) into uncharted territory. You know that the post hoc loss complaint initiation was problematic (do I need explain?). You are not compelled to null the first game. You had two choices, either play again or do nothing and let the result stand. Play again is (in statistical terms) creating a serious advantage/disadvantage between the participants, compared to letting things stand. I have explained elsewhere the logic of why TCEC, although quite possible acting thinking it was the"right thing to do" , in fact, on deeper analysis made a match-changing error. Apart from my being personally attacked by the usual suspects, as if this changes truth or logic haha, there is, as yet, no refutation of the analysis made. It would seem that this tournament will forever be known as one in which half a point was erroneously added to one score and taken away from another. Shame.
Truth is truth no matter who speaks it. The logic is inescapable. Wrong decision.

btw it is called being consequential. Don't forgive, forget, uncorrected wrongs in order to be part of a social group. Such a group is not worth it. I prefer to remain outside.

it has been discussed elsewhere. Not even Houdini did really complain afaik.

And it's just one game.

And is it really important who wins anyway ? We have thousands of games for the
Elo-ratings.
