I must say that 1s/move is likely better than the other testing methods I have seen for hyperblitz, albeit many of those are much faster. For instance, it is claimed that Houdini will lose on time out in desperate positions, or that the OS could affect things at the time-slice level. The constant time allotment sidesteps all these problems, so you get a better idea of what is going on.
