a mixture out of THE KING (johan de koning) and CSTAL (c.whittington) and Nimzo (chrilly donninger) in aggressive mode,
with evaluations few times bigger then the opponent program, so similar like mchess or CSTAL.

when the normal rybka-clones all have an evaluation that is LOWER than normal , strelka comes with speculative/full-moon-scores.

a very interesting program.

the way it organizes SPACE and TIME on the board reminds me very much on the king.

the opponent is often paralyzed. often the opponents are not coming above the 4th or even 3rd rank while strelka attacks like hell.

wow !!

congratulations. this is really cool and unsound chess.

there is something unique in strelka 5.

you must watch the games against it. amazing.

maybe a new approach ?!

Let's don't go there again (new approach - new paradigm)...

From Google's translation from Russian to English from the Strelka 5 site:

"I used a lot of things that could spy
in other programs. This is primarily Rybka 3, Ippolit, Houdini, and Critter
Stockfish. In most algorithms used Houdini version 1.5a,
for that I bring my gratitude to Robert Houdart and apologies."

So it's a mixture of ideas and/or code from those engines, nothing original to see here, even if the output is something new.

The quote continues with ...
"But if Strelka 5 would contain only strangers algorithms, I would not publish it. Publishing the engine only makes sense if
if there is something new, something others do not have. Innovations in Strelka 5 are quite numerous. The most important innovations are in the evaluation function."
Aided by engines, GMs can be very strong.

indeed. this is very unique IMO.

but - we don't have to argue about this here in words. load the engine,
let it play against whatever engine you prefer, and watch the games and scores yourself and you will maybe see what i see.

i don't want to disturb you in your long cloning battle discussions we all had the pleasure to read the last years.

I can't find those on Jim Ablett's website : http://jim-ablett.co.de/

I wanted to give it a try, but I am kinda paranoid, and usualy prefer to get JA's compiles from JA's website...

Code: Select all

Microsoft, Blitz:1' 0

1 Strelka 5 x64 +13/-10/=27 53.00% 26.5/50
2 Houdini 1.5a x64 +10/-13/=27 47.00% 23.5/50
Now, Jury should do the right thing and send me the source code. :)
