ChessBase & Fritz updates 23.2.2011

Post by Jeremy Bernstein »

I just installed the new updates for ChessBase 11 (http://www.fritzserver.org/updates/cb11.exe) and Fritz 12 (http://www.fritzserver.org/updates/gui12.exe) and am happy to say that many of the issues I've been suffering with recently are finally fixed. I've been in email contact with Mathias Feist for the last several weeks, trying to solve some engine crashing & other stuff -- all of my problems are gone in the new release (although there might be some new ones...).

Anyway, before I'm accused of shilling for an evil corporation, I'll stop, but if you use this software, you should probably update.

Thanks for the links, I couldn't update mine from inside the application for some reason. I blame Windows 7.

Has anyone got the extra opening book pane in CB11 to dock. Mine just sits on top of the notation window.

Thanks.

Go to the "View" tab and uncheck "Opening Book". It will get added to the notation pane as a tab.

Thanks Jeremy. I have done it this way but I like having the extra book window. CB10 let you dock this extra window. It seems a bug. The reference window doesn't dock either, best book line and photos do.

Jeremy

Can you provide any details or enlightenment on what was fixed or what problems you were having with Fritz GUI 12 ?

Thanks ;) ;)

My number 1 problem, which was apparently not reproducible on most machines, was that some engines (*.engine engines) would crash the entire interface on unload. Additional problems included the inability to reorder database entries by hand. I was also seeing major interface stalling when using the reference database, which seems to be gone, as well.

Someone here was having issues with DGT boards. Wonder if that's fixed, too.

Finally an update that allows deep junior to run in Fritz 12 interface. Junior kept crashing my interface. But it all works out in the end. Cheeers.
