by Robert Houdart
The new Houdini 1.5 is available.
Main features are improved evaluation and search (by about 35 Elo), and Gaviota EGTB support.
Detailed information and download can be found at
http://www.cruxis.com/chess/houdini.htm .
I've created a mailbox for problem reports, suggestions or requests, you'll find the address on the web page.
If you enjoy Houdini, feel free to donate to the development of Houdini. Donations will be used for purchasing hardware to improve the testing of Houdini and will contribute directly to future versions.
Cheers,
Robert

Thanks Robert, if 35+ Elo, that should be far ahead of everything out there today. Looking forward to testing it.

Speed test vs one of the fastest IvanHoe builds. Look at the picture and you do the math. If this thing really improved that much in Elo, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth...

There's more to a chess engine than node speed

Looking pretty good so far in my
get your feet wet tournament -- results will come later...
edit: Yes, that's what was meant that it's extremely fast and then combined with smarter search + eval means, well...

1 minute bullet games, 25 positions (reverse colors), no egtb, ponder off, 128 mb hash, 4 CPUs. Again, only a small sample to see if there's anything to see...
