if Swordfish is a stopped project, you can use Kookaburra v3, it is the top in a test opening of Sedat. Have you used Kookaburra v3, what is your review of it?
Re: lizard 11
Yes. I have used kookaburra v3. And I always like Dorsz works. I also studied the latest Sedat tournament. But , there is something more that you should consider. Strength of an engine is not every thing for a chess player , although it is important when you want to select an engine. But nowadays we have so many engines that are strong enough for advanced human chess players (FM, IM, GM).I think playing style and also correct evaluations of an engine are more important than strength. About stockfish family engines if I want to use one of them I prefer to use stockfish 17 official release. And if I want to use an engine with more strategic style I prefer to use leela. And if someone asks me to recommend other CPU engines, I recommend Plentychess, Colver, and lizard. Obsidian is also fantastic for classic chess but it can’t support chess 960. Berserk, caissa and viridithas are not aggressive enough and are a little boring(just my opinion). Alexandria has very bad and wrong evaluation. Rubichess was a good engine but it seems that author has stopped developing it. This was my quick review of top free(not private or commercial) engines.hungtranvn wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 8:36 amif Swordfish is a stopped project, you can use Kookaburra v3, it is the top in a test opening of Sedat. Thanks Homayoun
I used to be a chess player, I want to choose a suitable chess engine to learn. I like to play strategy, especially openings, following the style of Lyudmil Tsvetkov. Which chess engine do you think is suitable for me?
I heard that Leela is suitable for playing strategy, but it seems that Leela is only suitable for GPU, on my weak CPU Leela completely loses to stockfish
Thank a lot

For CPU , Komodo dragon (stopped project but useful for 1-2 next years too), also corchess and dark sister(positional) are the bests. Plentychess also can be considered as a strategic engine. It’s moves sometimes are difficult to understand but when you think more you understand how deep it thinks.hungtranvn wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 1:37 pmThanks Homayoun

Re: lizard 11
One thing more:
All the top engines are not weak in strategy too. If they didn’t know strategy they couldn’t be a top engine in rating lists. Just like we can see in human chess world. About engines you should download and test them and find the engine that you like it’s playing style and you can communicate with it’s style. That’s all.
Best regards
