ELO rating endgames played against engine

Hi
I believe it could be fun to make some kind of game rating available to the members who play on my chess endgame website http://www.chessendgames.com. I guess using the ELO rating system would be the obvious choice here, but I am not absolutely sure, how to figure out the actual rating algorithm. Looking at the ELO rating formula I need the ELO rating of the opponent, which would be the chess engine. This could just be a constant (which would be ~2600). Or alternatively, to make the rating outcome more dynamic, the value of the engine rating could reflect an actual endgame position, that is, if the engine is behind with a rook in the initial endgame position, the engine rating could be reduced to balance thins.
Do you have a meaning about this, then please let me know
Cheers
Bo.
