round 28 of tcec season 8 stage 3, saw the THIRD time loss from stockfish, against hannibal on move 99 when a draw was probable
this was the OLD version of stockfish, supposedly with no bugs
but in reality maybe it was just never tested enough
and tcec is nice with "rules" to ensure early termination in lotsa games

now you can ask to yourself the question whether this invalidates the "reason" given for allowing stockfish to replace itself
but of course the whole thing is for entertainment anyway (and to get donators to ante up) so you can't expect logic to occur

As was quite obvious from the beginning the problem was never with the version, but with using ridiculously small safety margins on the time usage (like 20 msec where you have hours of time). Then slight hardware or system differences can easily make enough difference between your testing and the TCEC environment to cause forfeits. So replacing the version was a completely pointless exercise, as it was still run with the same inadequate safety margin. I got soaked by rain twice this week, when going out in my yellow shirt. So today I will wear my green shirt, that should solve the problem! (Umbrella? What's that?)
