Breaking News - 27.09.2023:
The current championship is ended...many thanks and congrats to al!!
DON DON DON..as usual unstoppable and Number One, sure not via 'papers'
But with real 'facts' but I admit also that LesChats series are became
Very powerful books.. about HCanFree's performance, even old dated...
Plus available free to public and still holds to be one of the Top ranks!
In other words, what does it mean in reality? a lot..at least in my eyes!
CachoSCCT, Goi forum etc. Top books performed so good as well, actually
In this League, mostly books seems to be very close in performances!
Btw, some of long book names are editing or publishing actual dates...
I mean about two books : Solista 070823 = Solista-ENG 2024-1-CTG
And other name is shorten Goi forum = chess_massimilianogoi_forum

Private plus Public Book Champions: DON - Congrats to Vasid Chouhan!

Hello there )

1st of all,
DON Hercules is a BIN book, created by Me
But all credits are going to Mr. Vasid Chouhan

Reason of creation...
Almost all DON series are CTG books...so no chances
To run and test them properly under Cutechess GUI
Actually it's possible...but CTG buggy code still not fixed..
I mean about engines: Polyfish, CorchessSE etc.
And according to my newest testings..again and again
The loosing opening lines are preferred to play...SAD...

What I can say more,
DON Hercules's lines are tuned to prefer the
Latest played openings by DON book series!

Note: It's a very small one (even less than 500 KB),
But frankly, I can't remember any better record...
In other words, so far unbelievable performance...!!

Btw, as we see...DON's lines vs many strong book players...
E.g DON Hercules's win. percentage: 65.1%
Where draw ratio is close to 70%...really very low numbers..
Because this a book testing as NNUE enabled....
And let's see what will be final score...(after 750 games):

And here is LIVE ranking (via Cutechess GUI):

Code: Select all

Rank Name Elo +/- Games Score Draw
   0 DON Hercules 108 20 308 65.1% 69.2%
   1 SENTINEL 2 0 0 20 50.0% 100.0%
   2 HCan Upd 0 0 21 50.0% 100.0%
   3 Goi forum 0 46 21 50.0% 90.5%
   4 CachoUPD2 -35 46 20 45.0% 90.0%
   5 Breaker 1.0 -46 49 23 43.5% 87.0%
   6 Raid-TR-200823 -55 59 19 42.1% 84.2%
   7 OlisFish140823 -89 71 20 37.5% 75.0%
   8 CachoSCCT -102 74 21 35.7% 71.4%
   9 OPTIMUS 3.1 -115 77 22 34.1% 68.2%
  10 Bloom 090723 -127 85 20 32.5% 65.0%
  11 LesChats 130923 -159 93 21 28.6% 57.1%
  12 OrionPax -191 107 20 25.0% 50.0%
  13 HCanFree Upd -191 107 20 25.0% 50.0%
  14 CallmeX -259 140 19 18.4% 36.8%
  15 Lion 110423 -520 nan 21 4.8% 9.5%

308 of 750 games finished.
Note also that,
This a official book competition... where, later
I hope to test more opening books (each other..)
Btw, all books are playing by Raubfish SC, 1m+1s etc.

More info soon...

Best,
Sedat

There is a very simple way to use CTG in TACTICAL or Cool Iris, place the CTG book (all the three: .ctg, .cbh, etcétera ) in the same folder as the engine, then, load the engine at the GUI, then, paste the path of the .ctg in the slot where it reads CTG/Bin of the engine (This is at the time when you are manually adjusting the parameters (threads, syzygy),

Important!, in case the book has green moves (in the "green moves only" slot you will need to activate it), in this case the author of DON suggests "depth 80", you will need to change from 255 (default, to depth 80)...If the CTG book does not have the moves in green (for example no colors, just black), it is very possible that the engine "choose" weak moves.

Best regards;

Thanks for the info...

Yes I am aware of that...but all of the tested engines (which support CTG )
Are not so good in case of preferring the CTG moves under Cutechess...
E.g Fritz GUI does not prefer to play the lost games...e.g when under 25% win...
Where under Cutechess...CTG's lost lines are continuing till to end of line...
And this is a fatal error...at least from book author's point of view!
Do you understand what I mean ?)

Meanwhile, some time ago... I mentioned over these issues:
https://sites.google.com/site/computers ... cs-14-news

By the way (I ran also some CTG book testings under Cutechess GUI):
And I noticed that a few engines are already capable to use CTG books!
E.g some of them are SugaR, PolyFish, CatroPoly and to be honest
This is just a great idea, future... and many thanks to the programmers!
Anyhow, I think that there is a lot of work which needs to be done on it...
E.g their CTG book code seems to be buggy...and to be more clear,
After checking the played games...I seen that even the lost games moves are
Used to play...normally it should not play... I mean if contains only lost games,
E.g in this case, the engine must be out of using these kind of opening lines...

On other hand, (e.g testing/using CTG books under Fritz GUI)
Let's say for chess engines such as Rybka 4.1 Stockfish 15.1 etc.
Those openings, which are with less are than 25% win. percentages:
Then the mentioned engines are out of using these kind of books...

In other words, what I am trying to tell you, at least:
The lost games (with 0 or low win. percentage) should not be played!
And let's hope that in the next new releases to be fixed...!)

Greetings

Am trying to keep my book small. And i knw other books are like 250mb but still they get whooped😂😂. So size to me is irrelevant. The last champ was 8mb i believe Hc something book. I forgot its name.

As long as we get updated that old version will be replaced.
Tnx for the tour Mr Sedat

Great...and any news when your new book will be ready ?

About SİZE book issues,
The power is not in 'size', but in 'line'... by the way, e.g
DON Hercules is less than 500 KB, but performs so good so far!

Yes.. HCan book series are not so BIG.. e.g some managed to be Champs:
HCanFree Upd, HCan Upd etc. books are some of them...
