Franklin,

I gave you a chance to act like a man and you use the opportunity to sound like an immature and spoiled schoolgirl.

It is not surprising but it is disappointing. Doubtless I will check back here, so when you do grow up, post something reasonable and mature on the Hiarcs Forum and just maybe I will respond. However, I appreciate knowing where I can find drivel in abundance should I desire to waste my day reading it.

Thanks much,
Rob Osborne

Rob, your response is predictable; I know -- facts can be a painful thing to handle at times. Do feel whenever you can to respond to these:

My money and I spent a bit more than they did had the yummy 5 course tasting menu with a matched glass of wine with each one - was really nice.

I like and respect Cock de Gorter as well, and I can very well remember Aegon tournaments I played, and what Cock did to push computer chess in that times. But he (and the CSVN board) was simply wrong to ban Harvey, no matter what his reasoning was to play with a cracked Junior. And Harvey was right to call wrong doing wrong and to make it public and to call names after more than four weeks.

Guten Rutsch,
Gerd
Hi Gerd. how do you know what happened in the restaurant ?
Hi Thorsten,
I don't know of course, but it was not directly related to the 30th Dutch Open and Harvey operating Hiarcs there. Some personal issues between Cock and Harvey should not yield in an official ban of Harvey as Hiarcs team member by the CSVN. The escalation was due to the ban, and there was enough time for the CSVN board from Harvey's initial post about the ban without name calling on December 2, to solve that issue accordantly.

Yes, your tone versus Harvey was also not that melodic and constructive. We humans are all assholes up and then and likely have a dark side too ;-)

Cheers,
Gerd

in a soccer game, when a player insults or misbehaves, the referree throw the player out with a red card. the player cannot play next game due to the red card if it is a championship.
in soccer, if the coach is doing wrong, the referree can order that the coach has to leave the stadion and has, next game, to watch the match from the tribune.
that happened many times.
i do not believe cock de gorter is doing something without reason.
or just for fun. i remember him as a reasonable person. and i experienced how harvey williamson behaved when he has the power to ban or delete or censor other people.

thats why i do not post in the hiarcs forum anymore.

i stay to my initial posting: when i have choice between cock de gorter and harvey,
i would take cock de gorter.

you can buy a table at a Michelin starred restaurant but you can't buy class.
IMO harvey has no class. thats why he need red buttons to push.

I was quite surprised to hear about Harvey's ban and the reasons afterwards. Thorsten's emotional, ideological, personal and dogmatic reasoning to divide the world in good and bad guys is far off the topic.
Unfortunately, it seems that HW has become the lightning-rod of this topic. In a PM exchange, I commented that it might have been better for him to have given a drier fact/grievances enumeration than his personal narrative, but it seems too late for that now. TalkChess seems no better -- the quotation from Noomen (I presume) about Rybka/Fruit/Strelka was immediately jumped on, which would appear to lead down yet another road with no resolution.

On another note, for when the "Open Letter to Harvey Williamson and ChessBase Sysops" thread gets forked, here a link to some rules. Note that "insults" are specifically forbidden, and indeed, they make a big deal out of that.

As a side-note, all this thread is missing is Nelson Hernandez to quote some obscure military general of yore, and query why Cock didn't propose to settle any disagreement with pistols at 20 paces.

I still dont get how HW stuffed his way through five courses with new glass of wine each course, cost approx 300 euros, while Cock and his wife spent 130 euros total, 65 euros each. Presumably they sat and stared with nothing in front of them, no wine, maybe one main course, while HW did the Mr Creosote impression?

This does not add up. What is the point of Cock visit with wife to a Michelin and then not participating, while Creosote stuffs himself? First thought is that something was already wrong, with Cock going through the motions of attending the dinner, while an oblivious HW gorges himself and then insults Cock and wife. Weird.

Or maybe the accounting problem is resolved by Cock storming out early, flinging a 50 euro note onto the table, while Creosote, not prepared to give up on the nosh, imbibes the evening away alone?

I blame that Shirley Williams.

It is totally and absolutely, 100% my fault that Harvey thought you were Overpoint/Marc as I had some "brain fart" the KLO was one of Marc's nick. I don't keep records or spreadsheets of all the nicks and who is who... so you will just have to accept it as a result of my human frailty.

You, on the other hand, have falsely accused Harvey of banning accounts, accused him of lying when such was not the case... impugned his behaviour... all in a very weak, very pathetic manner.

Let us see now if you are a man (or can act like one) and can apologize to him.

Rob Osborne

Rob Osborne,

Why don't you grow up and act like a human being instead of a puppy dog doing what Harvey and Holger Lieske tell you to do. Rob I have little patience for you and a lot of other playchess members know exactly what you, Harvey and Holger are all about. Rob why would you tell another member on playchess to intentionally get me mad in the main lobby so I would say something out of anger and then you could use that as a reason to ban or mute me? Is this the behavior of someone that once was a policeman? Is this what you did when you were a policeman? To see what you do with your virtual authority on playchess as a sysop, really angers me that you are were even a policeman. Policeman is someone who has sworn to protect and serve the people, and to know you held that position is a shame. Rob I have no respect for you.
