In my opinion the roots of Houdini are probably from derivative engines. But derivatives is not clone! The Question "Clone or not Clone" is also (in my opinion) wrong here.

Who Cares, Stop the witch hunt. I guess Houdini is now the target because it is #1 on more and more rating lists. If Vas does not care, why should anyone else care. For now I will take Robert's word. He has a better track record then Vas.

I highly recommend you check out Houdini, which is similar to Fire but different and stronger.

It's currently just ahead of Rybka 4 on the rating list.

I would agree, Houdini is the strongest program bar none. I have played 100's of games at fast and slow time controls. Houdini is the strongest all around chess program I have tested. Much better at almost any endgame then Rybka 3 or 4.

I found if you follow the 200 rule you will get good time control settings with Rybka 4. Example 3, (90), (110)=200 , or 3, (80),(120)=200,or 3, (75), (125)=200.

Time controls I am having the best results with at any time controls are 3, 80, 120.
