Re: NeuroStock 2.0.1 and NeuroGrape 1.1

What kind of success are you having with this? I expected a log to be produced from my use with this engine analyzing positions but none was created. What have I misunderstood? I had mode set to 0 and I created the logs directory in case that was the problem...

Re: Endgame testing

I used the -repeat switch for the positions to be repeated with colors swapped, but apparently cutechess ignores this if the tournament is a round robin. Is this the expected behavior?

I guess it's finally time to post my first message on this board. Cutechess-cli does indeed ignore the "-repeat ...

Re: Endgame testing

This is very interesting as I thought the order would've been:

1. Houdini
2. Critter
3. Rybka
4. Komodo

Rank Name Elo + - games score oppo. draws
1 Rybka 4.1 11 17 17 553 53% -4 58%
2 Houdini 2.0c 4 17 17 550 51% -1 65%
3 Komodo 3 -2 17 17 551 50% 1 60%
4 Critter 1.4 -13 17 17 552 47 ...

My earlier testing had Houdini at the top. Who knows what it will look like with another 600 (or more) games added on Friday.

Re: These people are immune to rational thought!

I do have to like the CPW page on Rolf, particularly the inventive title "computer chess forum activist". :)

I followed the link and some of the rgcc links as well. Apparently Bob and Rolf have been rehashing the same argument re the Deep Blue match of '97 for over a decade. Is it stamina or ...

Re: Vas Speaks in Tongues

I laughed my ass off when I saw claims that Vas has created a whole new programming language with Rybka in other threads, but now he speaks in tongues ! Who knew using simple defines could spawn such spirituality…and an effectively higher level proprietary language.

Re: Compiling Stockfish MSVS 2010

Anyone have a working makefile for Stockfish under MS Visual Studio 2010? Any special options I should be using?

I compiled Stockfish 1.8 at one time, but I lost the makefile I used.

Stockfish is pretty easy to make at the command line with the MS compiler.

Re: CLOP and cluster testing

Has anyone put Remi's new optimization tool to use on a cluster yet? Bob? If so, what kind of improvements are you seeing?

On a cluster with N identical computers testing time is divided by N.

Thanks for the input. I'd be very curios to see how CLOP performs versus Bob's manual single-variable ...
