amazing engine mr houdart! but if you ever make another version, it would be great if you could let us adjust the settings to play around with them. that's the most fun, at least for me hehe. thank you.

oh well, so much for these settings. i think they probably don't make it any better than default. either these settings or fire 131 itself just has a terribly passive, defensive, want-to-draw-every-game style that makes it very difficult to want to keep testing it so i'm giving this engine up and ...

i really don't know how different 32bit would be; my guess is not much. i've played some games robbolito85 32bit vs 64bit very short blitz, for example, and i can't tell any difference at all.

i decided to make some settings for fire 131 to try to defeat drdeeb's firebird 11 since his seems to be stronger. the main issue i see with fire 131 is that it undervalues the rook. in some games it seems to make exchange sac's thinking it's good and then has to fight for a draw, so i tried these ...

ok i did my match on my computer. i have amd athlon ii x2 dual 2.8ghz. yeah i know it's slower but i figure that much wouldn't change on more powerful computers because they'll both benefit proportionately, right?!?

from the engine tournament window, click the "options" tab, then check "ponder."

if you're playing against the engine, then configure the engine and check "ponder."

ponder is another word for permanent brain.
