Re: Vitruvius moved to commercial...

On your last step, there is much to discuss ( very, very! ;) ), but it is not my intention to enter into barren polemics. They are not useful for anyone. In any case I respect your position, it's coherent.

Best wishes,
Roberto.

thanks for the fancy English!

polemics aside, my question:
are you ...

Re: These people are immune to rational thought!

My mother tried to teach me to be polite to people, but occasionally I slip, as I did here (calling Derek an asshole).
Rolf replied with more drivel, which I chose to ignore.

you did nothing wrong...IMHO, and were right on target

Re: IPPOLIT

Using RobboLito 0.1 as the name when you are not the author of RobboLito is intentionally misleading.
So I'm going to support Tarantula.

I think calling it Tarantula is also (even more?) misleading...
many will assume it's a whole new engine
and I know all to well, most (all) don't read ...

Re: IPPOLIT

Naming it RobboLito creates an authorship confusion.
.

i've made my decision...
i'll be releasing it as 'RobboLito 0.10 SMP'

if the author (Roberto Pesacatore) has an issue w/ the the name, he can contact me...i will respect his wishes.
my email address is well -known and readily available ...

Re: IPPOLIT

I dont think naming it anything other than RobboLito creates confusion since it will be a derivative. Naming it RobboLito creates an authorship confusion.

This part is not fair perhaps...
because I could not possibly have been more concientious in ascribing authorship...

my web site was (and ...

Re: IPPOLIT

Thought it was pretty well known that Ippolit turned into Iggorit -> Robbolito -> Ivanhoe . I guess there can still be some confusion.

I thought so too, but after reading some recent comments on talkchess, that proved otherwise. Also, http://computer-chess.org/doku.php?id=computer_chess ...

@kingliveson
I will modify the Chess Engine List as you suggest. I hope to make the changes tomorrow.
Question: Do Ippolit and Igorrit belong on my 'Dead Engine List'? (If no further work will be done to those codebases, then they meet my definition as 'dead'.)
Thank you for the information!

Re: IPPOLIT

Who decides on these names anyway? Besides Houdini all of them sound funny, cheesy or generic.

(I have to give credit to Houdart for that, Houdini is a really nice name for a chess engine, it's imposing, you'd want to have something like that)

To the contrary, RobboLito is a unique name and ...
