Re: perft results off by 1 in 700 million; reasons?

Hi Lucas

Yes, you're completely right - this is where I really lack discipline. I have been using SVN, that has helped.

The main problem, as I'm sure you know the feeling, is that you sit down to program one change/idea, intending to check and double check everything with Asserts. Then, you should ...

Re: perft results off by 1 in 700 million; reasons?

I feel your frustration!

I've been spending weeks (technically months now as it took me ages to understand) implementing magic bit board move generation, and getting the Perft results correct was frustrating.

I use the winboard engine Sharper for verification - it has a divide command straight ...

Re: LimitStrength tournament

No problem, so did I!

Thanks for the list, there is a lot of variation in there.

Re: LimitStrength tournament

Hi Alex

An interesting idea!

Are you planning to do more of this, perhaps over other strength settings?

I've recently been playing chess again, I'm a weak player, and I found the adjusted strength settings of engines varied - better was to use the weaker engines from the 5th division of the WBEC ...

Belc - GUI for BayesElo

Hi,

As with CuGen, I thought I'd make another small utility GUI I use in testing available for download. It's called Belc, and it has one simple use - you select whatever .pgn files you want ratings for, and press a button. Belc then makes a script file, and runs bayeselo, spitting out the results ...

Re: Jabba, Lime, CuGen website

Hi,

Just a quick note - Jabba, Lime, CuGen are finally all together on one site, which I cobbled together yesterday. The only file I couldn't find was Dann Corbit's 64bit compile of Jabba 1.0, and I haven't seen Dann around for a long time.

Re: STS Stat (v3.0) available

Hi Richard,

Please review this thread on why the mutliple moves were removed from the STS stat folder: (but STS stat could still recognize the move and award scores from multiple choices)

Re: Move on Hash Hit

I have tried just about every version of ip* that is available in source form. In a single 30,000 test run on my cluster, where one opponent (say ip* would play 6,000 games) I get hundreds of core.nnn files from the thing crashing. It wins enough games to show it is very strong, but the crashes ...
