Re: On Dalke
Computer algorithms can not be patented. Been the case for 30+ years now.
ARGH! God how I wish that were true, but its NOT. Over 200,000 software patents have been issued in the U.S. and many more are in the queue (total patent backlog >1 million). The practice of patenting software algorithms ...

Re: Large tablebases
[Bourzutschky says in 2006 regarding krnnkbbn says: " This ending could be generated with 64 GB of RAM in a few months on a fast single CPU machine and about 5 terabytes of storage. Any takers? " -- I presume he is taking the bishops to be of opposite colours, as else it would be more like twice ...

I also thought it was funny that they tried to make it sound as if David Levy was taking several days to answer each of their questions, and that was the reason the interview took so long. Based on what Bob posted, and a few posts I read this morning on talkchess, I am inclined to believe the delays ...

Re: David Levy responds to Chessbase's response to ICGA verd
Good job by David Levy. A lot of the questions seemed biased, but I guess that is to be expected. His answers were clear and to the point.

Re: These people are immune to rational thought!
Then Derek replied with a more reasonable-sounding post, but still calculated to make me angry ... It claims Rajlich is not "morally bound" to defend himself. But that is a ludicrous argument because in any sport, if competitors could simply ignore disciplinary preceedings without any consequences ...

These people are immune to rational thought!
So I got caught up in a little drama over at talkchess.
First, Rolf posted this garbage (attacking Bob and blaming him for the Rybka scandal)
Since it's about the 1000th time he's done this--and I was in a grumpy mood--I took umbrage and replied with this.
Then Derek Jones replied to ...

For any onlookers wondering if Judoka's posts above will remain unanswered...
He posted similar stuff in the other thread that drew some responses.

Re: Why I won't Buy Rybka 5
One option is to include all of your source files in a single file and compile that. Obviously it has some side effects (anonymous namespaces and static/internal-linkage symbols may conflict, and things like preprocessor macros can also cause problems) but if your codebase can accomodate it, it will ...

Re: Vas Is Answering Questions At the Rybka Forum
"beyond reproach" seems like the wrong term? That would mean beyond being criticized, or shouldn't be criticized??
Or is this a sort of super-oxymoron where you say they are so far beyond criticism that they are reprobates?
I think he meant "beyond redemption" or something like that.
