Wow, was it really that simple? :)

Thanks.

So I take it you just would redraw the last line on the screen then, padding with the space characters as needed?

I'll check it out.

Re: Some Schaeffer papers

Here are some papers of Jonathan Schaeffer that touch on chess programming.

How about this one?

:)

Funny you mention that, I am building more checkers endgames right now, using a 64-bit checkers engine. It might seem odd to use 64-bits for a game with ...

Easy Crafty Question for Dr. Hyatt

Hoping Dr. Hyatt still comes on this board now and then.

I can remember, ages ago when I studied the Crafty code, there was a clever way to "redraw" just one part of the screen. Crafty updates it's time, or replaces parts of its PV, without having the screen scroll vertically.

I promised I would ...

Re: 2 TB HD for Tablebases

For instance, I don't think they ever thought anyone would want to index the 6-piece with the scheme. It uses 1 index per 8K positions, while I think the RobboTotalBases use 1 per 64K positions, or even 1 per 1M positions (something called "hyper-indexing", though what it is actually doing is not ...

Rybka 4 Opening Book???

I bought a copy of Rybka 4 down at the World Open last weekend. I thought it was a bargain at $55, then I realized:

a) This was a single processor version
b) The opening book clearly was not the one that was being "raved" about.

Does anyone know how to get the "amazing" Rybka book?

Thanks, but that contained no instructions on how to do it for the Fritz GUI.

I'm interested in running matches from one fixed position, not a suite of positions either randomly or sequentially.

Engine matches from fixed starting positions

I was looking to run some engine matches, no opening books, from fixed starting positions.

Example: 1. e4 c5 2. d4 cxd4 3. c3

I'm not sure how to do this.

Does anyone know how to set this up?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Why I am here

He's so full of himself and he actually believes that his moderation is perfect.

If your statement was true, Graham Banks wouldn't have apologized.

If you were correct, I would agree with you.

Was he apologizing for being full of himself, or for being a lousy moderator?

He apologized for his ...
