Hi-Def Live YouTube Tournament: SF, H4, Komodo-TCEC

Live YouTube broadcasting of a tournament is an idea inspired by Mark Young on TalkChess.

Houdini 4 vs SF dev version January 26 (both using 6-piece Syzygy on SSD) vs Komodo-TCEC. Stockfish is the is the SSE4.2 modern engine, "official compile" from Ronald De Man, but the name was relabeled to ...

Windows Fishtest Installer for Stockfish

There is now a windows installer for joining Fishtest, created by Joachim Rang. You still need to get a username and password, but the installer is a much simpler way to start contributing to Stockfish development, versus the old way which required Fishtest to be "manually" set up. Remember, the ...

40 moves in 5 minutes, repeating

Re: Stockfish 4 PA_GTB

BTW, I am running a tournament comparing "The Big 3" engines with TBs on and off, including the SF-DD-Gaviota compile that was kindly offered by Jeremy here. It will take months to complete, and get the error bars lower, but the tournament can be followed at this link as I update periodically:

Re: Arena default Hash Size not holding!

Thanks, Odeus. I had the restart set at the recommended 20. I had once tried 10 and it still happened, so I will use your suggestion.

PS: I have a post pending approval with another screen shot, but now it's a moot point.

Re: Crafty

Besides your facts being incorrect about Crafty, Robert Hyatt is a pioneer of computer chess, so you should show some respect. He has been a major contributor. I have known of his name since the days of Cray Blitz, and not many other people have had such staying power in the field. Many others have ...

Re: Arena default Hash Size not holding!

Hello User923005 from Tralfamadore!

I have plenty of physical memory left. I should have captured a screen with that showing, D'oh! The below image shows 3GB open on a 6GB machine. I should try the lottery today, as when I ran Arena 3.0 to get another capture of this happening, it was in the 2nd ...

Arena default Hash Size not holding!

Hello. Nice Forum, this is my first post here. Thanks to all the great people who contributed so much to computer chess, especially Dr Hyatt. While I claim no special talents besides being a chess enthusiast and humble EE, I would like to start out by offering an observation, and noting that if not ...
