It is part of a the german computermagazin "c't", issue 24 from last monday. On that CD is a full Version of the latest Shredder Classic 4 GUI + Shredder Classic Engine as well and all that for 3.7€!

Clearly DJ12 is a generation ahead of DJ11.2, but unfortunately I can't buy it because the license does not allow me to test it against top rated engines like Houdini and IvanHoe.

Houdini 1.03a. I use others, but this is the one I keep coming back to for its superb evaluation.

Houdini seems to provide better evaluations for endgames than Rybka, but I don't know whether this has much impact on Rybka's results and rating. I wonder whether there are types of middlegame positions where one does better than the other; or is it the case at this ...

Houdini 1.03a difference to Rybka 4 in analysis?
Rybka 4 and Houdini 1.03a seem to be fairly similar in strength. I wonder if anyone has examples of positions where one of the engines does better than the other? Please post below!

With so many forums, I now use view active topics, which is just the same as having exactly one forum, but with the disadvantage of not removing any of the stuff I'm not interested in. I think CCC had it about right, but appreciate others may differ.
