Re: Latest Stockfish [developmental] builds

Okay. Was about to write a howto. :)

A few notes:
- Next time you start MSYS you don't need to run mount.
- Use forward slashes when cd etc., e.g. c:/mingw

Re: Latest Stockfish [developmental] builds

No msys.bat
What do you mean? Here is the latest MSYS at MinGW-builds. Unzip somewhere, msys.bat is in msys directory.

Re: Latest Stockfish [developmental] builds

uname and test are missing. You can download these from here (dependencies too). Personally, I would rather use MSYS (msys.bat to start the shell and mount mingw with "mount c:/mingw /mingw" or set up the path in /etc/fstab).

Re: Chess Programming/Concepts for Beginners.

Google's webcache is still up. Seems like the content is just a bunch of static pages. If no one is willing to host a mirror, it shouldn't be that difficult to convert to PDF or move somewhere free, e.g. setup a blog at wordpress.com and post source code at GitHub.

Re: What do you folks make of this ?

I wonder how close ">' and '.' are in a keyboard, not in the numerical pad.

Well, Miguel, this will depend on the keyboard layout. It could be as many as 8 characters between. If we assume for a second that we are talking about US layout, then it's the same key. Which would mean that you would ...

Re: What do you folks make of this ?

It wasn't a typo. Is it reasonable to assume you'll win a lottery next week? No?! Then why is it reasonable to assume it is a typo when the odds are practically the same?

Seriously though. That was about failed logic.

Logic dictates:

If P then Q
P
-----------
Q

In plain English: If P happens ...

Re: What do you folks make of this ?

Because the type doesn't happen next week.
Is it reasonable for a lottery winner to assume he won the lottery, even though the probability of winning the lottery is 1 in a million? Yes, it is very reasonable.

In that case I can get you in touch with a really nice Nigerian guy. Even though the ...

It wasn't a typo. Is it reasonable to assume you'll win a lottery next week? No?! Then why is it reasonable to assume it is a typo when the odds are practically the same? There is a difference between "could have" and "would have". You can basically explain everything by could. It could have been ...
