Re: Glass 1.6 - New with Personalities!!

I would like to invoke glass (the weakened version) from the command line. How do I specify a non-default personality from the command line?

I run Linux and will use 'wine' to run glass inside eboard but I want a way to invoke it with a non-default personality from the command line.

Thanks ...

Re: Glass 1.6 - New with Personalities!!

Thanks. I would really appreciate it if you could add Chess960 support into Glass.

One other thing...you say we can create our own personality with this version. I'm highly intrigued by this but I need help understanding the ELO.ini settings. Especially the meaning of the different settings ...

Hello Hagen,
sofar we haven't fully decided on the plans for the next release yet. I have the feeling Chess960 support should not be too difficult to add, but I will see what is possible.

Glass 1.6 - New with Personalities!!

Hello,

I am glad to announce the new Glass 1.6 by Pawel Koziol and Edmund Moshammer.

Besides bug-hunting, a great opening-book update and improving its tactical awareness by reducing the aggression with history heuristics, we invested a lot of effort into creating personalities.

At the moment ...

Re: Stockfish tablebases?

Nalimov doesn't fit with their open source licence, as one needs the permission of Nalimov (Probing Code) and Kadatch (Compressing Code) to be allowed using the code.

IIRC the team is however considering implementing the Gaviota Tablebases.

Re: Run engine tests with no opening books.

Just looking at that position RKNBNQBR, I can't see anything special that makes blacks position hard. Those game results are based on less than 80 games. To get a true idea would be to pit identical engines to play many games from that position and report back with results.Do CCRL test these FRC ...

Re: Run engine tests with no opening books.

I think the suggestion that FRC has positions that are too favourable to the White side is only a theory. Some one did a test on all the 960 starting positions with high powered hardware and high quality chess software and came to the conclusion that all positions were playable for Black. The ...

Re: Drawing Frequency

The draw ratio depends on the strength difference between the competitors, the average strength level and the drawishness of the openingbook-line.
