I ran many different tests the past couple of weeks.
Will have a look tonight to see if I still have the files (hope so) and then I will upload it for those who are interested in it.
I have seen plenty of brilliant games being played by the two chess engines and would love to share it with you.

Second strongest chess engine?
I think by now it is a well known fact that Houdini is the current number one chess engine in the world.
(It just destroys all the other chess engines).
What I would like to know is what chess engine is number two?
I have seen many tests of other users, who compared the top ten or so chess engines ...

Houdini 2.0 won Houdini 1.5a (32 bit) in 500 games
According to Robert Houdardt, he reckoned about 500 games would be suffice to test his older and newer Houdini versions.
At last, after about two weeks of nonstop testing, my PC have finished a 500 games match (20 mins on each side) between the two versions.
Here is the results with ponder on ...

Re: Houdini Pro 2.0 configuration very important
Hi Ernest
See my new post.
What I found very interesting is the fact that up to 100 games, Houdini 1.5a and Houdini 2.0 were still neck and neck, with
the same amount of wins. Only thereafter did Houdini 2.0 slowly pull away.
Thus with games of 20, 30, 40 or even more, with chess engines that ...

Houdini 2.0 win Houdini 1.5a in marathon tournament
I have setup a 500 games tournament between the new Houdini 2.0 and the older Houdini 1.5a to see what the results will be.
I set it up for a 20 minutes tournament, thus about 40 minutes game each, with ponder on and ran it on a 32 bit XP PC.
Unfortunately my PC crashed after 175 games. I have ...

Worlds top chess engines needs lots of comparing
Robert Houdart advise at least about 500 games for his older chess engine (Houdini 1.5a), versus his newest chess engine (Houdini Pro 2.0)
to really compare the two engines.
I have run multiple tournament runs between each and are busy with a 500 run, which will take more than a week to finish ...

Houdini Pro 2.0 configuration very important
I am busy testing Houdini 1.5a versus the new Houdini Pro 2.0 on 32 bit machines, with ponder on, but
the rest of the settings I kept on default.
I have three different PC's, ranging from 6 years, 4 years and 1 year old.

Sorry Uly, my mistake.
Thanks for your insight. I think that we are both correct, but we "miss" each other in terms how we see statistics
and the way it works. I am a researcher and statistics is part of my every day life.

Robert
Yes, I totally agree with you. What I actually trying to say, is that with different sports you have different stats to decide who
is the best.
Looks like to me that with chess engines, one have to run a lot of games, whereas with other sports you only need, for example
5, 10, 20 or 30 ...

Hi Robert
Thanks for the info. Looks like chess is a much much more complex type of game (possible the most complex of any game in the world) than for example
say boxing. In boxing the best fighter usually wins the fight and is statistically "very" accurate with only one match, but with chess ...
