Re: Ban: Automatic Learning of Evaluation [...]

I have been doing this almost exactly since ~2007 and got it to work by 2009.
The implementation seems to be different (though they do not describe the improvement part), but the theory is almost identical, even using the same logistic equation (I do not include any drawishness term), which I based ...

Re: What do you folks make of this ?

It wasn't a typo. Is it reasonable to assume you'll win a lottery next week? No?! Then why is it reasonable to assume it is a typo when the odds are practically the same?

First of all, Rajlich needed to use a keyboard with US layout. Odds may not be low, but it's not given. He lives in ...

Re: What do you folks make of this ?

I've been writing parallel programs since 1978 and I would NEVER assume there are no bugs, just because nothing crashes. I have fixed more subtle bugs, and it really has nothing to do with threads vs processes. Except that threads are more efficient for some things (egtb access is one since egtb ...

"can be recreated in other ways."

As opposed to the simpler explanation:

I am stating a fact, not an explanation, to someone that came late.

Re: PST of Fruit 2.1 and Rybka 1.0 Beta

No... this is really frustrating.

At least we finally agree on something.

I think Bob was agreeing with the frustration.

I believe Vas copied the PST values directly from fruit via the pst initialization code, after changing the constants to scale what he considered to be appropriately due ...

At least we finally agree on something.

No, we don't.

I believe Vas copied the PST values directly from fruit via the pst initialization code, after changing the constants to scale what he considered to be appropriately due to material value differences.

Clearly, that is not what happened ...

Re: PST of Fruit 2.1 and Rybka 1.0 Beta

... the PST values can be produced by the fruit initialization code with just a few constant changes, no new code added at all.

Maybe Ed has lost the capacity to understand this simple fact.

A non-fact because it is not true.
It is not a "few", it is "all" the constants were changed. The ...

Re: PST of Fruit 2.1 and Rybka 1.0 Beta

It is not a "few", it is "all" the constants were changed. The vectors are kept, and their independent numbers are not that many.

Right, so constant offsets were added. And that's your case for these being more than non-trivially different? Really??
