Re: State of Decline For Topalov?

I'm impressed with Nakamura's progress, he seems to be on his way to 2800.

yeah he's played a lot of games, 166?! that's too much for top Grandmaster. It's understandable though that he hadn't had an opportunity to play in Europe because he wasn't invited to top tournaments until later. Playing ...

Re: Is Magnus Carlsen Washed Up?

No. He had 3 wins, (one against Topalov today) in Nanjing tournament and will likely be up to 2810 today. We should not forget that he is still a teenager. Chess players usually reach their top form in their thirties. It is already unrivalled what he has achieved imo. Fischer was not the best in the ...

From Bacrot -Anand Game, is this position really won?

8/1B6/5k2/4p3/4Kppp/8/6PP/8 b - - 0 46

I read some comments in chessbomb that it is dead draw according to databases but when I checked it with DR4 and Nalimov I had the following lines. Can anyone (possibly someone with other tablebases) confirm or comment whether this is actually won by white ...

Re: Dr. Deeb´s FireBird settings

Hello,

What is the minimum/shortest time control you suggest to test your settings? I have AMD Phenom X4 9850 running at 2.5ghz with 3gb ram and windows 7 x 64. Also does repeating or sudden death makes any diff? Thanks in advance. Really good job coming up with these settings. Dr. D for the ...

Re: POLL: Whether Houdini Is A Clone?

Hello group,

It seems the claimed owner of Houdini, one Robert Houdart, has convinced himself that Houdini is an original program and neither a derivative nor a cloned program

My question is why are you going after ...

Re: Houdini 1.03 is available

Thank you for this update. I have a few questions.
1) Is there a way to check whether large pages are working or not eg. like in rybka case checking the log file?
2) Do we need certaion amount of RAM (like 4GB) or hashtable size in order to be able to use large pages feature?
3) Does Split_Depth ...

Re: First Compile of Ippolit and Robbolito

I have Robbo e4, g3 and 0.09 if you need them and I still think Robbolito 0.09 is one of the best 32 bit single engines around. On my laptop tourney it was a better than Deep Rybka 4.
